The More the Merrier

So - even though we frequently use the NAM forecast model this close to the storm because it is a good short-term model, a meteorologist would never (or should never) make a forecast based on one model.

It's nice to have corroboration.  To that end, here's this morning's GFS model (Global Forecast System) run for total liquid-equivalent precipitation from this storm.  You can see its similarity to the NAM which I posted in my last note.

When the forecast models agree, confidence in any particular forecast increases.  Forecast confidence for this storm is getting higher all the time.

Remember:  take the amounts you see below and multiply by 10.  That gives you inches of snow forecast:
